Offering quality education and a variety of programs for over 50 years now, MacEwan University was founded in the year 1971. MacEwan has around 14000 students enrolled in their 65 programs out of which about 1000 are international students from various countries of the world, promoting a cross cultural and internationally informed learning environment. The college offers multiple student clubs and extracurricular activities for its students. Some of the well noted clubs are the Accounting club, Animanga Club, Canadian Nursing Student's Association, Commerce Club, Design Students Organization, Feminists at MacEwan, Gamers Association, Health Promotion, Dance Clubs, and the International Students Club.

Besides all these clubs, the students have access to sports and health care facilities on the campus as well. The university is well equipped with gyms, sports arenas, a swimming pool and a fully equipped wellness centre giving the students a correct balance of education and health.
